Make Money on eBay Unconventional Product Sources
There are many
conventional and well-known ways to obtain products to sell and make
money on
1) ITEMS WITH REBATES – Many retailers, especially in the office supply industry, have products listed in their advertisements that are FREE with a rebate. Some of these product rebates require a UPC Code for the rebate. If you cut off the UPC code, be sure to note it in the listing. A great place to start this strategy is just to check your local Sunday Newspaper. Before you buy, simply identify the item that is available that week and check eBay Completed Listings to get an idea of the potential for that item. NOTE: Some items will drop in price temporarily following these FREE rebates. That is because others are doing exactly the same thing. Wait a week or two and prices generally recover – you list it, sell, and make a profit! 2) GARAGE SALES – These are fun to attend! They can also be a good source for eBay products to sell. The advantage of garage sales is that there is a variety of merchandise available, and generally the seller wants to sell it now. 3) THRIFT STORES – We know of one Powerseller who’s business does millions of dollars in sales annually. He used this very strategy when he first started. You need to commit to check out the items routinely. When you first start you might grab just a few items, note what else is of interest, and then do some research. If the research says you have found a winner, return and make your purchase. 4) DOLLAR STORES and DISCOUNT STORES – Generally it helps to create a sets of like item. For example, pull together a set of stickers that includes multiple packages of stickers around a specific event, character, or topic. purchased at the dollar store and you have a set that will sell for more money on eBay. 5) CRAFT STORE CLEARANCE AREAS and CLEARANCE ADS – As with dollar and discount stores, look for opportunities to create sets of items. One of our favorite ‘craft sets’ is scrapbooking. 6) BUY IT FOR LESS – Misspelled listing titles on eBay are a real opportunity! Many auctions with misspelled titles result in low sales prices. By being the one to discover these auctions, you just might end up with a winning item that you can turn around and resell for a big profit. Be sure you don’t misspell the title wehe you create your listing! 7) CREATE YOUR OWN PRODUCT – e-Book, Video, Series of Pictures, Audio, and more. We know one person who creates simple, yet eye-catching decorations for every holiday. This is an example of a unique idea that can be sold on eBay. 8) FLEA MARKETS – If you are looking something that is a little different, flea markets might be the answer. Be sure that you know your market BEFORE you make purchases. 9) STORAGE UNIT AUCTIONS – Storage units seem to be everywhere! What comes with these units is auctions for merchandise that has been abandoned. Check your Sunday newspaper for information about upcoming upcoming auctions. 10) SPLIT PROFITS WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES – Solicit excess materials from local businesses and then split the proceeds. Most businesses have excess merchandise that they desperately want to sell. Yet most also have no eBay expertise, In fact, most haven’t even thought about eBay as a way to sell their excess or out-dated products. It may take a few phones and/or in-person visits before you find the right business to work with.
