How to Make Money Selling on eBay

We are currently PowerSellers on eBay, but when we first started, we too found how to make

 
money selling on eBay to be a challenge. We soon found it to be relatively easy to reach the lower-ends of the PowerSeller sales levels. It involved finding products that were in demand. Yet to make money on eBay, they had to be available at prices that allowed us to make a profit. We focused on the basics such as pictures, titles and descriptions. Finally, we began fine tuning our efforts by controlling the listing day and time. Adding an eBay store came next. 

 

One of our goals remained to continually grow sales. We want continued sales growth, yet the methods for achieving that growth began to allude us. As we continued to ask ourselves how to make money selling on eBay, we found that we needed to become much more creative. Finally, we developed several new methods that have very positively impacted our total sales. More importantly, these methods have positively impacted our eBay profits! 

 

The first method that we added was what we call ‘bundling’ products. Bundling products is a means of multiplying the size of the sale while not being required to add new products to the auction offerings. Simply take a hot product, and rather than selling it one-by-one, create packages that include several of the same item. That soon became a key regarding how to make money selling on eBay.

 

The example, we routinely sell baby bottles. In examining our sales results, we found that a high percentage of baby bottle auction buyers immediately visit our eBay store to purchase additional bottles. Rather than requiring purchasers to make the extra effort, we have created auction packages that include several of the same bottles. That simple step has been a key step toward how to make money selling on eBay.

 

Some interesting things happen when the products are bundled.

  1. The final auction price of the bundled package often reached the same per item price as we receive selling the products individually.
  2. Total sales increased. Customers still often go to eBay Store. However, rather than adding more of the same product, they are more likely to add other baby products to their order.
  3. Profits go up. This is due to labor savings (described below) as well as increased total sales without sacrificed profits.
  4. Shipping costs per item go way down. This saves the customer money.
  5. Labor costs associated with pulling, packing and shipping per-item is decreased. The bundled auction package is already pulled as a unit during the listing process that we use. Since customers are not being required to add to their order, we have the final package pre-pulled. (Instead of having one item at auction and then being required to pull 3 or 4 more because of added store sales, we have the total package pulled and ready to go!)

 

 

Bundling products has been a winning formula for us in our search of how to make money selling on eBay. Bundling products has also been a winner with our customers. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to increase the size of your individual auction sales, consider bundling products. It has really worked for us!
